Vrsar, Croatia

Being a photographer, I always look for scenic places and especially beach side holidays in the bliss of nature, relaxing with cold drinks and adventure activities. Usually, I try to escape touristic places, and of course, beaches in Croatia are perhaps number one reason why this year I also selected campsite Valkanela for our destination like every year.Very near to Vrsar, Valkanela is located by the sea and cradling a beautiful cove 2 km north of Vrsar in Istria and one of the spacious camps on Istria’s western coast. The campsite itself has everything, from terraced hills to soft lawns beside the beach. You can even choose the beaches based on your moods in Valkanela. If you have a boat you can drive to one of the island near campsite and find your own private beach.Next day we started for Vrsar side seeing with our bikes. Situated in the South of Poreč, Vrsar is one of the most beautiful sea coast full of island chains. We discovered this city with all that other Istrian towns have like natural beauty and stunning beaches. I was speechless while I was standing on the hill top, surrounded by the islets. It gave me the stunning view of the sunset.

Another joyful part of Vrsar visit is cycling. We took the inland cycling paths. Passing through vineyards and olive grows was really a natural treat! While cycling by the sea side you can take a break at sea side restaurants. You will find Vrsar as a real food heaven, offering you the best sea foods.Once done with Vrsar, we planned to visit Rovinj, a pure sea side bliss! The sea side and the old town are so pretty and enchanting that anyone can fall in love! It is no wonder why the place is one of the popular holiday destinations in coastal Croatia. It has many things to offer you, from active fishing port to ancient smooth cobblestoned streets with artisan shops. You will be fascinated with the pastel-colored houses and architectural mixes especially Venetian architecture at this part of Rovinj. While roaming the streets and shops we encountered the Church of St. Euphemia, the famous Baroque structure in Istria and one of the must visit in Rovinj.

The last but the most thrilling part of our tour was visiting and kayaking at Cape Kamenjak. Situated in the southeast area of the Istrian peninsula, Kamenjak is a protected park with many untouched natural beauties. Extended over 30 kilometers it has many bays, islets, and beaches. While kayaking you will experience the breathtaking views of cliffs, bays and of course clear blue sea.
